LilyAnn & Charlie chose a timeless colour palette of blush pink and ivory tones for their elegant modern wedding at Stockton House, Shropshire. Their wedding took place on a gorgeous, if a little showery, day in the middle of summer.
I worked closely with Lily, Charlie and their wedding planner Amy throughout the planning process, allowing me to get a real sense of them as a couple; modern and fun loving! With this in mind, together we decided to added a modern touch to the floral designs with hints of dried materials; bunny tail grasses, pampas and seed heads. Still classic but with a little nod to modern wedding trends!
The Personal Flowers
LilyAnn's bouquet contained garden roses in muted pink and blush tones; including our favourite Cappuccino, Quicksand and Cafe Latte roses, to name just a few. We specially selected seasonal garden style flowers such as Scabiosa and scented Sweet Peas to reflect the period venue and added some hints of dried materials such as Scabiosa seed pods and Bunny Tail Grasses. Lily's bouquet was finished with luxurious trailing silk ribbon in dusky pink from The Botanical Dyer, which danced along after her as she swept down the aisle, a whimsical and romantic touch to finish off the look.
Lily's bridesmaids wore mix and match dresses in tones of pink, all unique and showing their own personalities. They carried petite versions of the bridal bouquet, still substantial and flower filled, they contained a selection of complimentary flowers in an English country garden style with a little bit of a whimsical modern twist.
The Groom's buttonhole contained a selection of smaller blooms seen in Lily's bouquet; spray roses, Lisianthus and Italian Ruscus as well as the bunny tail grass, and was finished with matching dusky pink silk to tie all of the wedding party together.
The Ceremony
LilyAnn and Charlie got married at Trinity Church in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury. The aisle was lined with "meadow arrangements" creating abundance and impact as the bride floated down the aisle to meet her groom. The aisle flowers, in a "just grown there" style, matched perfectly with the bridal bouquet and acted a focal point to draw their guests eyes towards the ceremony and providing endless photo opportunities.
The Reception
A reception followed at the stunning Stockton House in Shropshire, a beautiful period wedding venue with oodles of historic features, incredible in-house catering and first-class customer service (to say I am a big fan is a understatement!).
A floral installation on the staircase welcomed guests to the venue, highlighting the exquisite décor of the venue and giving the guests a taste of what was to follow during the wedding breakfast.
The Wedding Breakfast
Lily and Charlie opted for traditional round tables with crisp white linen and white washed Chivarii chairs for their wedding breakfast in The Walled Garden dining room at Stockton House. The tables were kept simple and elegant with ceramic footed bowl arrangements, a modern take on a classically styled centrepiece. Coloured Ester and Erik candles in glass candle sleeves (a must for venues with a "no open flames" policy!) added ambiance and white paper fans gave a subtle nod to Lily's family heritage.
The top table saw footed bowl arrangements interspersed with clear and cut glass bud vases and flickering candles, adding an extra hint of romantic sparkle to the tablescape. The twinkling fairy light canopy was the final magical finishing touch to the room.
We created a focal point of the top table with a floral pillar installation, framing the couple as they dined. The floral meadow arrangements from the ceremony were repurposed during to line the top table, adding yet more floral impact to the room! And creating a real WOW as guests entered the space.
The Evening Celebrations
The celebrations continued long into the evening and saw Lily and Charlie's guests entertained with casino games, a caricaturist and live band. Lily & Charlie chose a personalised neon sign decorated with florals, to bring the casino room to life as well as giving guests the perfect spot for selfies!
The floral meadows were repositioned once more to line the front of the dance floor allowing for even more photo opportunities of their guests throwing some shapes! Meadows they really are the flower arrangement that keeps on giving!
...And what more does the modern bride need, than a second bridal look covered in sparkles?! Lily rocked her second bridal outfit; an embellished jacket and mini skirt set teamed with classic white trainers. All the better for dancing in!!
Congratulations Lily and Charlie!
