Booking wedding suppliers can be a pretty daunting task, with lots of us making costly mistakes along the way! But don't panic, take a minute to step back and breathe!
Avoiding these common mistakes when booking your wedding florist will help your wedding planning run wayyyy more smoothly!
1. Choosing based on price alone.
Cheapest definitely isn't best when it comes to wedding suppliers! Obviously you DO need to keep your budget in mind but you also need a creative, reliable florist who shares your vision for your big day as well as providing excellent customer service. Sometimes budget suppliers cannot deliver the same professionalism. I would always recommend choosing a florist who you trust, whose designs you love and whose prices align with your budget.
2. Not looking at their portfolios.
Check out their preferred style, does it align with what you envision for your wedding? Having a look through vendors social media pages is a great way to get to know them better, you can get a sense of their personality and see the types of wedding they usually work on.
That being said, don't be put off if their previous work doesn't look EXACTLY like the wedding you want. Florists are used to working to different briefs and will be able to tailor their designs to your preference.
3. Approaching lots of different suppliers at the same time.
Take your time to do a little research, go through them one at a time and then approach approach ONLY the florists that you like in preference order (you don't want to book someone JUST because they're available!). Please don't just Google florists in your area and email them all!
4. Not being honest about your budget.
If your florists knows what you're looking to spend then they can suggest arrangements that align with your budget.
You can also ask your florist which designs they would suggest for your wedding. We are used to working with different budgets and can tell you where is best to spend your money for maximum floral impact!
5. Waiting until the last minute to book.
With postponed 2020/21 weddings as well as new bookings the next few years are set to be BUSY! You do need to be organised about booking your suppliers, at the moment florists are getting booked up to 18 months in advance.
That being said, it is possible to be TOO organised. Start approaching wedding suppliers when you have a firm date secured with your venue. If we don't know when you're getting married, we can't check if we're available!
6. Not reading the contract.
Different suppliers like to work in different ways, so don't assume all contracts are the same. Read them carefully and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask!
P.S. Some things to take note of are minimum order requirements, security deposits, payment due dates and exclusivity clauses.
I hope this help these tips help you avoid some super common mistakes! If you would like to enquire about your 2023 wedding, get in touch by filling in the contact form on my website! I can't wait to chat all things wedding with you!
